On Thursday January 22, Club Mareva Beirut hosted a focused tasting dedicated to five single cask expressions from Hunter Laing & Co. under their respected The Old Malt Cask range.
It marked the first time these specific casks were tasted in Lebanon.
The Old Malt Cask series is known for a clear philosophy. Each release comes from a single cask. No blending. No chill filtration. No added coloring. What guests experienced in the glass was the whisky in its purest form, shaped only by time, oak, and the identity of the distillery.
The tasting was presented by Jean Paul Abdallah, who guided guests through the individual distilleries, maturation periods, cask types, and the subtle differences that defined each bottling. The evening focused not only on flavor but on structure, balance, and cask influence.
Single cask tastings carry a different weight. Unlike standard core range releases, each barrel represents a finite expression. Once emptied, it cannot be recreated. That rarity added depth to every pour and encouraged thoughtful discussion among attendees.
With a limited number of seats and a carefully selected lineup, the event reinforced Club Mareva Beirut’s commitment to presenting serious whisky experiences for collectors and enthusiasts seeking authenticity and character.
An evening dedicated to precision, provenance, and the individuality of the cask.
Club Mareva Beirut proudly carries the full range of releases from Hunter Laing & Co., ensuring that enthusiasts have consistent access to both current and limited expressions across their portfolio. Our commitment goes beyond availability. We remain highly active in hosting dedicated tastings that explore the depth and individuality of each cask, regularly presenting curated lineups from The Old Malt Cask and other Hunter Laing selections. Through these focused events, we continue to strengthen the brand’s presence in Lebanon while offering our guests an informed and structured approach to independent bottlings.
