On Thursday January 29 at 7:30pm, Club Mareva Beirut hosted a focused Single Cask and Cask Strength tasting, bringing together four distinctive expressions built on intensity, structure, and individuality.
The lineup featured:
• GlenAllachie 2012 PX Hogshead Single Cask, 12 years
• Edradour Vintage 2016 Second Fill Caroni Cask, 9 years
• Springbank Cask Strength, 12 years
• Glenglassaugh Rare Cask, 7 years
Each bottle offered a different perspective on wood influence and distillery character. From the dense sweetness and spice of the PX matured GlenAllachie to the intriguing Caribbean rum cask nuance of the Edradour, the tasting moved through layers of texture and complexity. The Springbank delivered its signature coastal weight at natural strength, while the Glenglassaugh showcased vibrant, youthful depth shaped by active oak.
Presented by Jean Paul Abdallah, the evening went beyond surface tasting notes. Guests explored maturation styles, cask impact, alcohol integration, and the structural differences between single cask releases and cask strength bottlings. The discussion centered on precision and balance rather than simply power.
With limited seats available and a ticket price of $60 per person, the session maintained an intimate format that encouraged detailed analysis and meaningful exchange.
An evening dedicated to intensity, authenticity, and the raw expression of whisky at its natural strength.
